American fashion brand Michael Kors has unveiled plans for its first flagship store in China. Located in Shanghai’s Jing An Kerry Centre, the new 6,000-foot retail space will be designed by Kors’ in-house team in collaboration with New York-based architectural firm KPF, and it will feature elements inspired by Michael Kors’s signature use of metallics and texture, namely a shimmering two-storey exterior façade, reflective screens and polished stainless steel fixtures, a 30-foot-high mirrored wall etched with MK jacquard patterns, and interiors with accents of zebra skin.
In addition to the ready-to-wear collections and its full range of accessories (including handbags, watches, jewellery and eyewear), the flagship will house two new concepts for the brand: a dedicated men’s accessory section and a women’s shoe salon carrying both the Michael Kors Collection and Michael Michael Kors shoe line.
