Although this stunning house has been completed for a few years, every time I look at photographs of it I confirm that it is most probably my ideal holiday abode. Located on an island near the colonial town of Paraty and Angra dos Reis (between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro), the building was designed by architect Marcio Kogan as two large balancing concrete boxes positioned between the gigantic boulders and amidst the luxuriant vegetation of the Brazilian coast.
Access to the house is by a boat that arrives at a private beach and leads to expansive tropical gardens created by landscape architect Gil Fialho. After crossing a metallic bridge over a reflecting pool, residents enter the house, whose decoration was devised by interior designers Diana Radomysler and Carolina Castroviejo. The lower volume of the residence contains a living room, a kitchen and service areaa, all with large glass windows with views of the sea, whereas the upper level holds the bedrooms.
