Since they founded their label Brooklyn We Go Hard (BWGH) in France in 2010, David Obadia and Nelson Hassan have not only developed their own clothing and accessories line but have also collaborated with street wear brands such as Larose and Drifter to develop lines of caps, backpacks and tote bags. For their first collaboration with sportswear brand Puma, BWGH applied their nous of Parisian urban style and appreciation of the art world to create Bluefield, a redesign of the popular R698 running shoe.
Drawing inspiration from the work of American painter Mark Rothko and his role in the Colorfield Painting art movement, BWGH explored how the gradation of shades of blue could be effectively applied to sports materials such as suede, mesh and bouclé knit. Throughout the creative process, Obadia and Hassan paid close attention to the adroit balance of tones in the smallest of details as evident in the careful choice of blues for the mottled laces. The collection, which was launched in stores worldwide this month, comes as a pack of accessories that includes a backpack and a limited-edition skate deck.
