According to the guys in the GANT Rugger creative team, the current conceptual focus in menswear is the adaptation of Swedish design to American style in a combination of Scandinavian midsummer bucolicism with Ivy League sportswear and preppiness. As such, their Spring/Summer 2014 collection is all about ‘Stockholm meets New York City’, and they even went as far as coining the acronym STONYC to define the fashion derived from fusing the lifestyles led by men in the two metropolises.
The duality of sartorial inspirations in the GANT Rugger Spring/Summer 2014 collection can be seen in the blended yarns such as cotton/linen for ties and wool/linen in blazers, and is at its most evident in a bomber jacket made from pastel blue suede with contrasting bright orange lining. The collection also reveals a focus on relaxed knitwear (namely jersey sweatshirts) and on experimenting with floral prints (including tonal printed lilies) and textured fabrics (such as reflective printed nylon).
