Alexander Wang unveils new Tokyo store

New York-based fashion designed Alexander Wang has unveiled his first freestanding store in Tokyo on 5 October 2013. Located in the city’s Aoyama district, the new store occupies 345 square meters across three floors that make available the entire Alexander Wang men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, the T by Alexander Wang range, accessories and the Objects collection.

The design of the store mirrors the one used in the recently inaugurated Shanghai store and is centred around the idea of a clean, white box punctuated with noble materials such as Italian white Carrara marble, black Nero Marquina marble and polished bronze. To establish a contrast with these heavy materials and provide a feeling of lightness and transparency, hanging glass unites and floating shelves are used throughout the interiors.
Alexander Wang currently operates 5 shop-in-shops in Japan. The opening of the freestanding store in Aoyama brings the number of the brand’s international stores to 16, while the Alexander Wang e-Commerce site ships to more than 50 countries.
