Quinta de Lemos in Portugal by Carvalho Araújo

Portuguese architecture and design studio Carvalho Araújo have completed a building for wine makers Quinta de Lemos that comprises a restaurant, a three-bedroom guest house and wine showroom designed to provide a holistic experience about wine and wine making.

Located outside the small Portuguese town of Passos de Silgueiros, the concrete structure hides and rises from the surrounding landscape in seductive contoured lines created by glass walls that angle back and forth to sit comfortably against a rocky hillside. The architects described the building as being “drawn by the land. Its openings and orientation respect the main points of view over the vineyard, control of natural light and the discretion that is intended.”
