I admit that I have an interest in cars that is purely based on aesthetics rather than technical performance and speed. In addition, I much prefer to be driven in a stylish automobile than drive one. With this clarification out of the way, when Italian car maker Maserati announced a collaboration with fashion brand Ermenegildo Zegna, I naturally became curious to find out more about the results.
Scheduled to be unveiled next week during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Maserati Quattroporte Ermenegildo Zegna Limited Edition is a concept car that features a unique and innovative colour scheme, materials and finish when compared to its counterparts. The paint used in the exterior contains ultra-fine aluminium pigments whose brilliance is amplified by a glossy black primer in order to conjure a sense of metallic fluidity and purity while also evoking an idea of classic sophistication with which Maserati is usually associated.
This interpretation of luxurious style continues on the inside of the vehicle, with warm hues like mocha and grey beige suggesting Zegna’s most recent men’s fashion collections. In addition, interior components such as seats, door panels and the roof lining are covered in velvet-smooth fabrics with finishing touches of soft leather.
Production of the Maserati Quattroporte Ermenegildo Zegna is planned to start in 2014, the year when the Italian luxury car manufacturer celebrates its centenary.
