Welsh Gold Medal for Architecture awarded to John Pardey Architects for Trewarren House

John Pardey Architects have won the 2013 Welsh Gold Medal for Architecture for Trewarren House, a five-bedroom family home overlooking the Nevern Estuary in Newport near the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park in Wales, UK.

The seaside house, which had already picked up an award from the Royal Society of Architects in Wales and the Royal Institute of British Architects, beat off competition from 24 other entries. The judges were unanimous in their decision, commending the design for its environmental credentials and its “clarity of concept, beautiful execution and careful relationship to site and orientation”.
