Architect Zaha Hadid has collaborated with footwear brand United Nude on the NOVA, a new limited-edition women’s shoe, which was launched in Paris on 2 July 2013 to coincide with the haute couture fashion week.
The shoe’s design features intricate striations juxtaposed with realignments that evoke Hadid’s architectural projects, as well as an innovative cantilevered system that allows the 16cm (6.25 in) heel to appear unsupported. In addition, the NOVA claims to be the first shoe in history to employ rotation moulding for a smooth and seamless finish. The upper of the shoe is made from metallic chromed vinyl rubber and is lined with Italian kid nappa leather. The hidden platform and heel are composed of fiberglass and the outsole is made of rubber.
