Palaon Research and Experience Centre by Holzer Kobler Architekture

Zurich and Berlin-based architecture practice Holzer Kobler have completed the Palaon Research and Experience Centre in Schöningen, Germany. Occupying a site where 300,000 year-old spears (the oldest man-made hunting weapons) were found, the building features a reflective skin marked by cuts and seams on facade panels purposefully designed to evoke the shape of the spears while mirroring the surrounding hilly landscape. A three-story foyer serves as a starting point that allows viewers to explore research facilities, exhibition spaces, a restaurant, shops and educational areas.
