American fashion designer Michael Kors will be presented with the Artistry of Fashion award by the Couture Council of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology during a luncheon at the Lincoln Centre on 4 September 2013 that will also mark the start of New York Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2014. The award is made by a committee that comprises journalists, retailers and curators who look not only at the previous year’s accomplishments, but at a lifetime of contributions to fashion. Past recipients of the award include Valentino Garavani, Oscar de la Renta and Karl Lagerfeld.
