American jeans brand J Brand showed its first ready-to-wear womenswear collection for Autumn/Winter 2013 during New York Fashion Week on 6 February 2013. The designs made a departure from jeans to explore opposing elegant silhouettes created by mixing relaxed leisure wear with sharp tailoring.
Garments included voluminous trousers inspired by menswear, skinny jeans, track pants, long dresses, heavy knitted pieces, tailored jackets, and oversized biker jackets with gold hardware and deep knitted cuffs. Fabrics such as, cashmere, silk, boiled wool, double-knit jersey, satin and denim were juxtaposed with leather, shearling, and panels calfskin to create texture across a sombre palette of black, whites, and glimpses of burgundy.
J Brand was founded in 2004 by Jeff Rudes with the intention to provide classic and sophisticated jeans with an emphasis on fit. The brand is currently available in over 2000 retailers in over 20 countries including Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom in the United States; Harvey Nichols and Selfridges in London; Le Bon Marche in Paris; Biffi in Milan; Lane Crawford in Hong Kong, and Tsum in Moscow.
